Join museum manager Scott Andrews for a tour of the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Museum followed by a guided history walk around the external grounds of the hospital.
Opened in 1882 the Royal Prince Alfred is one of the oldest hospitals in NSW. From the beginning, it incorporated some of the latest thinking on hospital design and training from Florence Nightingale.
Today the RPA Museum tells the history of one of the country’s most well-known hospitals. It holds more than 6,000 items including medical equipment, nursing history, photography, administration documents and more. Two of the display rooms sit within the original 1941 operating theatres.
The museum also showcases an impressive collection of material related to the history of healthcare in Australia.
